About Steve
Steve was introduced to trains and railfanning at an early age with trips 'down to the depot' in Noxon, MT. He and his Dad would spend hours walking the tracks waiting for trains. This railfanning interest blossomed in 1979 with a visit to Stampede Pass. Though the line was closed at the time the thrill of searching the line for trains started Steve's railfanning interests.
Steve began photographing trains using his parent's equipment in the early 1980s. With the gift of a Canon AE-1 Program in 1987 Steve began taking railroad photographs in earnest. Steve shot a mix of prints and slides while living in Pullman, WA and Flint, MI. When Steve returned to the northwest in 1993 he switched to video briefly. By 2000 digital photography technology had progressed to the point where good images could be made and Steve progressed through a series of digital cameras eventually landing on a Canon EOS 20D he uses today.
Steve's other interests include landscape photography, personal computers, amateur radio, and weather monitoring.
The galleries shown on these pages represent a variety Steve's work.
